Le Raj Restaurant raises more than £260,000 for charity

Le Raj restaurant near Epsom Downs has reached an outstanding milestone. Ever since its opening 14 years ago, Le Raj has regularly organised events for good causes, and has now raised more than £250,000 for charities.

This important landmark was reached on November this year when Le Raj hosted a special fund raising dinner in aid of Help a London Child, the charity supported by Capital Radio, which gives London's needy kids a better start in life.
In just one evening, Le Raj managed to raise a tremendous sum of more than £40,000, with the result that the restaurant has now raised a total of around £260,000 for various local and national charities.

A number of celebrities came down to Le Raj for this special occasion, including Chris Tarrant, James Cannon, Ross Cane and Becky Jago. Chris in particular launched himself into the charity auction with typical vigour and enthusiasm, and a staggering £35,000 was raised by the auction alone.

A dinner for four with Chris and his wife Ingrid at Le Raj went for an amazing £4000, while around £1500 was paid for a life size model of Harrison Ford from the Raiders of the Lost Ark films. Other auction items included football shirts signed by the England Under 21 team, a pair of gloves signed by the Chelsea goalkeeper, tickets for various concerts and shows, and huge bottle of whisky.
